WIICA stands for Workload ISA-Independent Characterization for Applications. WIICA profiles a variety of important intrinsic program characteristics relating to computation, memory, and control flow, some of which are highly sensitive to the ISA choice.
The application-centric design style for accelerators is heavily dependent on workload characterization of intrinsic program characteristics. At the same time these architectures are likely to be decoupled from legacy ISAs. WIICA provides an opportunity for accelerator designers to quickly understand the intrinsic workload characteristics without being biased by the ISA.
